Yes; to gain your certificate you will need to show competence in the subject taught. On any of the face-to-face training, the trainer will assess your practical skills during the practical day – this assessment will be group-based. You will not be expected to demonstrate in front of the class.
You must bring ID so the trainer can check your identity for certification purposes.
We advise that you wear comfortable clothes and advise against wearing tight trousers or a short skirt, as you will be required to kneel on the floor to complete your CPR practise and assessment.
We suggest that you take a packed lunch with you and refreshments for the day as we cannot guarantee what facilities will be available at each venue.
The findings of an employer’s first-aid needs assessment will help them decide how many first-aiders are required. There are no hard and fast rules on exact numbers and all the relevant circumstances of your particular workplace should be taken into account.
Your employer is expected to have:
– Completed a first-aid needs assessment
– Ensured that there is either an appointed person to take charge of first-aid arrangements or, if necessary, there are appropriate numbers of suitably trained first-aiders
– Ensured their are adequate facilities and a suitable stocked first-aid box
– Provided you with information about the first-aid arrangements.
